Neck Pain Insights From Dr. Garrick Cason
Dr. Garrick Cason recently published an article in Stroll magazine about the causes and treatment of neck pain.
According to this article, neck pain, also known as cervicalgia, interferes with quality of life and limits active lifestyles. Common sources of neck pain are stress, injury or trauma, physical strains and, more commonly, degeneration/arthritis.
Dr. Cason discussed the different ways to prevent and treat your neck pain. Simple routine exercises can prevent deconditioning and strengthen neck muscles. Stretches, ice, and anti-inflammatory medicines can also help reduce pain. For persistent and more severe neck pain accompanied by pain, numbness, or tingling down the arm and hand, he suggests evaluation by a board-certified fellowship-trained spine surgeon.
