My Comeback Story: Beth L.

Beth's Comeback Story
New and Improved!

After dealing with very limiting hip pain for 2.5 years, I made an appointment with Dr. Hawkins. I had been seen before by another doctor, but was told I only had mild arthritis. That very first appointment with him was life changing for me. X-rays revealed bone on bone deterioration in my hip. It was unbelievably reassuring to find out the pain I was experiencing was not imagined. A treatment plan was made with my input, and after pre-op clearances, my surgery was performed on an outpatient basis at SHHEC. I was discharged home after showing that I could walk. My outpatient PT occurred at I-Performance where I excelled with their guidance and encouragement! I am now living the life I expected when I retired. A deep cloud of depression caused by the pain and limited mobility has lifted from my shoulders, and I am back to volunteer work, beach combing, and walking daily with no reservations. Activities of daily living are a breeze, and I attack each day with a renewed sense of purpose. I am extremely thankful my path crossed with Dr. Hawkins and his staff. With his expertise, kindness, and guidance along with the staff at Orthopaedic Associates, I now have a new lease on life and enjoy every waking moment.
