Orthopaedic Associates Providing Care Through Telemedicine

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 while providing essential orthopaedic care services, Orthopaedic Associates is now offering telemedicine to their patients. Telemedicine allows patients to visit with one of the practice’s specialty-trained providers remotely from the comfort of their work or home using video conference and telecommunications technology, such as a smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop. These virtual appointments will provide a lowered risk of viral exposure for the practice and community at large. Soon, Orthopaedic Associates will expand this care measure to new patients, which will help reduce patient traffic in hospitals, emergency rooms and urgent care clinics.

Using telemedicine, the practice’s specialty-trained providers will be able to consult and provide care plans for bone, joint and muscle injuries and conditions as well as provide follow-up appointments. Their telemedicine platform complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act as well as executive order mandates. Telemedicine also offers their patients accurate, quality specialty care without risk to themselves and others.

Many patients may be eligible for a telemedicine appointment with Orthopaedic Associates. Currently, the practice requires patients to:

  • Be an established patient of the practice (new patient telemedicine visits coming soon).
  • Be physically located in Florida at the time of your appointment.
  • Have a working smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop with a working video camera or webcam and working microphone.

“At Orthopaedic Associates, the health and safety of our patients and staff remain our top priority,” says Dr. Mark Tenholder, board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon of Orthopaedic Associates. “As part of our dedication to our patients and community, we are continuing to provide patients with specialized treatment and follow-up care while offering a safe, remote care solution through telemedicine during this critical time.

“During these video visits, your doctor can discuss your problem, assess your recovery and even review imaging, such as X-rays and MRIs, while you stay in the comfort of your own home or office,” continues Dr. Tenholder. “Through the virtual visit, providers will be able to provide a treatment plan and arrange for any prescriptions or other tests — altogether these measures will help drastically minimize risk of potential viral exposure in our community.”
