Orthopaedic Associates’ Dr. James Watt Offering UltraGuideCTR for Carpal Tunnel Release
Orthopaedic Associates — the region’s most preferred orthopaedic practice — is the first in the region to offer carpal tunnel release using the UltraGuideCTR device with ultrasound guidance. UltraGuideCTR is designed to provide a rapid recovery for patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. In 2021, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity specialist Dr. James Watt was the first surgeon in the Panhandle region to complete an UltraGuideCTR procedure. Patients in need of specialized hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder and sports injury care can call 850-863-2153 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Watt at the practice’s locations in Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Niceville and Crestview.
Now available from Dr. Watt at Orthopaedic Associates, the UltraGuideCTR technology offers an alternative surgical option for carpal tunnel syndrome that helps patients recover faster and have immediate hand mobility. UltraGuideCTR allows for Dr. Watt to see the entire hand and wrist anatomy in real time for advanced accuracy and precision throughout the surgery, which provides patients with the following benefits:
- Quick return to work and normal life.
- Small wrist incision usually closed without sutures.
- Minimal post-op pain management.
“We are proud to be the first in the region to provide this proven technology for carpal tunnel release,” said Dr. Watt. “Carpal tunnel syndrome is both common and debilitating, and I am excited and honored to offer patients an easier, faster recovery with this helpful new technology.”
Dr. Watt received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University in Iowa. He then completed an orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at Ohio University in Columbus. After his residency, Dr. Watt received additional subspecialty training through a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa. He joined Orthopaedic Associates in September 2012. Highly skilled in advanced treatments for the upper extremity, Dr. Watt specializes in both surgical and nonsurgical advanced treatment techniques in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder care as well as for sports injuries.
