Electromyography (EMG) & Electroencephalography (EEG) Testing

At Orthopaedic Associates, our doctors are committed to ridding and preventing your musculoskeletal and neuromuscular discomforts and disorders. Radiating neck and back aches, physical numbness and weakness, muscle fatigue, and muscle cramping are common symptoms that can be assessed by electrodiagnostic testing, while electroencephalography testing is useful in the diagnosis of sleep disorders, headaches, seizures, blackouts, and TIA.

Our board-certified neurologist, Michael L. Shawbitz, M.D., is an expert in performing electrodiagnostic consultations. The electromyography test consists of a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam, followed by a nerve conduction study, which tests how well signals travel along a nerve to help find the cause of abnormal nerve function.  During an electroencephalographic consultation, our specialist records the electrical activity produced by the brain and recorded from the scalp overlying the brain. This information is used to determine the site and type of abnormal electrical brain dysfunction occurring during an electrical event like a seizure or migraine.

At Orthopaedic Associates, our specialist is the leader in diagnosing, evaluating, and treating impairments of the nervous system. Our goal is to get you back to enjoying your favorite activities swiftly and free from pain. To make an appointment with our specialist, please call 850-863-2153.
